Trissential’s client is a $10 billion manufacturer and marketer of access equipment, specialty vehicles and truck bodies. To comply with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and tight deadlines around supplier data security, the client launched the “Information Assurance” (IA) program. For a recent DoD deadline, the IA program team was responsible for moving 22 projects through the Organization, Definition, Development and Implementation phases in less than six months.
Trissential provided program management around the IA plan of action, which contained both simple and complex projects. Working from strict guidelines defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technologies, the IA program tightened company data security through:
- Development of security policies and systems to control how and when non-company personnel access networks
- Implementation of systems that monitor and control electronic leakage of documents and information (to prevent data loss)
- Addition of controls around software installation by employees
- Requirements for passwords on employee Blackberry devices
- Data encryption on laptops and other portable storage
All 22 projects in the IA program were successfully completed by the required deadline, resulting in a secured contract with the DoD. The IA program is now an ongoing initiative for the client and has become a competitive differentiator for new contract bids. The team continues to improve procedures and methods to assure confidentiality, integrity and availability of important information.
